This Privacy Statement explains how we, Santa Rosa County, collect, use, share and store information about individuals (“you”) and your interactions with our website at www.getrelaxing.com and our other websites (“Site”). It also explains your choices, such as opting out of receiving newsletters and targeted advertising.
General
Santa Rosa County provides its web site for your convenience. By using the information, services and products available through this web site, you agree to be bound by all of Santa Rosa County Government’s terms and conditions of use as set forth herein.
The terms and conditions set forth in the PPTOU may be updated from time to time without notice to you. It is your responsibility to review it from time to time to be aware of any such change. Your continued use of this service will indicate your agreement to any such change.
Please note that Santa Rosa County Government is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of web sites whose contents are not controlled by Santa Rosa County Government, whether Santa Rosa County Government links to them as outside sites or not.
There are two types of information we collect – anonymous and personal. Anonymous information is information that cannot be used to identify you individually. We collect anonymous information automatically. Personal information is information that can be used to identify you individually, such as your name, address, email address, or phone number. We collect personal information only when you give it to us. You may be asked to provide personal information anytime you are in contact with us. We may share your personal information with our tourism partners, as described in detail below. We and our Florida tourism partners may combine your personal information with other information to provide and improve our products, services, and advertising. You are not required to provide any personal information that we request, but if you choose not to do so, in many cases we will not be able to provide you with our services or respond to any questions you might have.
I. What information do we collect? How do we collect it? What do we do with it?
The type of information we collect from you depends on how you interact with us. You can use our Site without providing us with any information other than anonymous information we collect automatically.
A. Information you provide directly
We obtain information that identifies you personally directly from you. We ask for your contact information (name, street address, email address, and phone numbers) when you request a guide, sign up for electronic newsletters, answer a survey, enter a sweepstakes or other game or contest, participate in other promotional activities, or share your photos with us. We may also ask for information that helps us understand more about your interest in Florida tourism, such as demographic information like household information and age group, and information about your travel interests. By law we must ask prize winners for their social security numbers so that we can report their winnings to the IRS. When you share a photo with us, we may obtain your credit line (an acknowledgement of who shot the photo), caption and date and place the photo was taken.
We use the information that you voluntarily provide to reply to your requests, to update and improve the content on our Site or in our electronic newsletters, and to assist with marketing research. We use photos you share with us to promote Florida vacations.
B. Information we collect electronically automatically
- Information about your visit
Our Site servers automatically record your visits to our Site. Like all other website servers, ours compiles a log that records the date, time, browser (i.e., Firefox), device type (i.e., iPhone), operating system (i.e. Android) and originating IP address of each Site page request. Your IP address is not personally-identifiable information. We use cookies to collect the following information about your visit to our Site: which website or ad you visited right before ours, which pages you visited on our Site, and how much time you spent on each section of our Site. We may also collect other data about your visit, such as search requests and results. We use this information to track usage of our Site, to measure the number of unique visitors to the different sections of our Site and to help us make our Site more useful. The use of this information is called “analytics.” We may build interest profiles based on page visits. “Cookies” are data files, which often include an anonymous unique identifier, sent to your hard drive from a website. Cookies can only be read by the party placing the cookie. They cannot erase or alter any of your data. When you visit the website again using the same browser (Google Chrome or Safari, for example), the cookie allows that website to recognize your computer. Cookies may store user preferences and other information, and allow us to anonymously identify and track users as they move around our Site. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some of our Site features may not function properly without cookies. Most browsers accept cookies automatically but allow you to disable them. We recommend that you leave cookies enabled so that we can offer you the best experience on our Site. For more information about cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
- Information About Your Location
From your IP address, we can tell generally where you are when you are accessing our Site, i.e., which city.
C. Information Third Parties Collect Electronically Automatically
- Third-Party Cookies for Site Use Analysis We use third parties such as Google to help us analyze how people are using our Site. We also use the Google Analytics service to provide us with demographic data about our users, such as age and gender, on an anonymous basis. That Google service uses a cookie that can be recognized by Google or its affiliate DoubleClick when you visit other websites.
- Third-Party Cookies Used to Target Ads to You When You are on Other Websites We work with other companies who use their cookies or beacons to target ads to you when you visit other websites. This is called retargeting and is common practice. You may also see third party ads on our Site that are targeted to you based on your prior visits to that third party’s website. Other companies we work with target other Florida vacation ads to you on other websites. This is called behavioral advertising, because you receive ads based on your prior online behavior. For example, when you visit our Site you may receive a cookie on your browser that is read when you visit Facebook using that same browser, so that during your visits to the Facebook website you might receive advertising based on the pages you visited on our Site. “Beacons” are transparent pixel images that are used in collecting information about website usage across websites and over time.

- Opting Out Generally
We do not have access to, nor does this Privacy Statement govern, the use of cookies or other tracking technologies that may be placed on your computer, mobile phone, or other device by non-affiliated, third-party ad technology, ad servers, ad networks or any other non-affiliated third parties. If you would like to learn more about behavioral advertising or to opt out of having this information used by companies that are part of the Network Advertising Initiative to deliver targeted ads, please visit http://www.networkadvertising.org. Many of the same companies are members of the Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising. You can learn more and opt out of receiving targeted ads from them at http://www.aboutads.info/choices. Choices you make are both browser and device-specific. This means that if you opt out when using Safari on your computer at work, you will not be opted out on Chrome or on your home computer. Please note that when you opt out of an ad network, you may receive an “opt-out” cookie so that the network will know not to assign you new cookies in the future. You will continue to receive ads from that network, but not behaviorally targeted ads. If you erase your browser’s cookies, you may need to perform this process again.
- Deleting cookies
To manage or delete browser cookies, please see your browser’s privacy setting
- Do Not Track
Some browsers have a ‘do not track’ feature that lets you tell websites that you do not want to have your online activities tracked. These features are not yet uniform, so we are not currently set up to respond to those signals.
II. With Whom Do We Share Information We Collect?
A. Personal Information
We share the information that you voluntary provide with our tourism partners and also with business partners that fulfill your requests for information, such as companies that mail our print brochures.
We share your email address with trusted business partners who provide tourism services and have also agreed to use your information only to promote their own products and services.
We may disclose your personal information as required by law, in conjunction with a government inquiry, or in litigation or dispute resolution.
B. Anonymous Information
We may disclose statistical information to third parties in aggregate form without revealing any personal details about our users (for example, 35% of our Site visitors live in the Snowbelt).
III. Links to Outside Web Sites
This Site may contain links to third party sites not controlled by Santa Rosa County, such as those belonging to tourism partners. We recommend that you check the privacy statement of other sites you visit before providing any personal information. Any offers made in advertising on our Site are the sole responsibility of the companies making the offers.
IV. Security of Information
Please note that although we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no website or computer system or wireless connection is completely secure.
V. Privacy Inquiries
If you have concerns or questions regarding our consumer privacy practices, please forward them to TDOmain@santarosa.fl.gov.
VI. Changes to Privacy Statement
We retain the right to change this Privacy Statement at any time to reflect changes in the law, our data collection and use practices, the features of our services, or advances in technology. Please check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of changes will mean you accept those changes.

Use of Cookies
When you visit Santa Rosa County’s web site, you can surf the site anonymously and access information without revealing your identity. In order to improve our site, we may use “cookies” to assist your visit. A cookie is small amount of data that is transferred to your browser by a web server and can only be read by the server that gave it to you. It can function as your identification card, recording your passwords, purchases, and preferences.
However, it cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses.
Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether or not to accept it.
For some web pages that require an authorization, cookies are not optional. Users choosing not to accept cookies will probably not be able to access those pages. While certain web pages use cookies to assist your visit to the Santa Rosa County web site, and while our web servers automatically log the IP address of your computer, this information does not identify you personally, and you remain anonymous unless you have otherwise provided personal information to a specific web page.
Display Advertising
Santa Rosa County has implemented Display Advertising and uses remarketing with Google Analytics to advertise online. It means that third party vendors, including Google, show our ads on sites across the Internet.
Santa Rosa County along with third party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third party cookies (such as the Interfuse cookie) together to inform, optimize, and serve ads based on your past visits to our website.
